Assam Police apprehend a Bangladeshi national attempting illegal entry in Karimganj, highlighting ongoing efforts to secure the Indo-Bangladesh border against infiltration.
Guwahati: On October 19, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that state police successfully detained a Bangladeshi national, Md. Arif, who was attempting to illegally cross into India in Karimganj district. Following his arrest, he was promptly sent back across the border.In a social media post, Sarma commended the vigilance of the Assam Police, stating, “Our personnel are fully alert to thwart such infiltration attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border.”This incident follows a previous operation on September 23, when Assam Police arrested four individuals—Sohil Hawladar, Shah Alam, Sourab Hawladar, and Md Kawsar—also trying to infiltrate from Bangladesh at the same border. Chief Minister Sarma praised the police’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of these actions in maintaining border security.Additionally, on September 22, Assam Police, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), detained two more Bangladeshi infiltrators, underscoring the ongoing commitment of security forces in Assam to monitor the international border and prevent illegal crossings.
