Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika asserts that the BJP-led alliance will secure victories in all five upcoming Assembly bypolls, highlighting strong local support and development initiatives

Guwahati: Assam’s Minister Pijush Hazarika has expressed confidence that the BJP-led coalition will sweep all five seats in the upcoming Assembly bypolls scheduled for next month. Speaking to reporters, Hazarika emphasized that the coalition already has MLAs in four of the five constituencies, attributing their expected success to the significant development achieved under the BJP’s governance. The bypolls were necessitated by the election of five MLAs to the Lok Sabha, affecting the Dholai, Samaguri, Behali, Bongaigaon, and Sidli constituencies. Notably, Dholai is reserved for the Scheduled Caste community, while Sidli is designated for the Scheduled Tribe.Hazarika specifically targeted the Samaguri constituency, where Congress veteran Rakibul Hussain has maintained a stronghold since 2001. He asserted that local voters are disillusioned with Congress’s long-standing governance and are poised to support the BJP this time around. The BJP has already declared candidates for three of the seats: Diplu Ranjan Sarma for Samaguri, and Diganta Ghatowar and Nihar Ranjan Das for Behali and Dholai, respectively. The recent victories of BJP leaders in the Lok Sabha have created vacancies in Dholai and Behali, further motivating their campaign.Additionally, BJP’s allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), will contest in Bongaigaon and Sidli, respectively, as the coalition aims for a comprehensive victory across the board.
