Major Drug Bust in Assam: Heroin Worth ₹6 Crore Seized, Two Arrested

In a significant operation, Assam police seized heroin valued at nearly ₹6 crore in Kamrup district, arresting two suspects linked to drug trafficking from Manipur.

Guwahati: Assam police have successfully intercepted a substantial drug shipment, seizing heroin worth approximately ₹6 crore and arresting two individuals in Kamrup district. Following a tip-off, a Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid in the Amingaon area on Saturday night, uncovering the narcotics being transported from Manipur.

According to Pranabjyoti Goswami, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Assam Police, the drugs were discovered in 49 soap boxes within an SUV, leading to the arrest of the intended recipient. The heroin weighed 637 grams, reflecting its significant street value.

Additionally, the truck driver, who had transported the drugs from Kangpokpi district in Manipur, was apprehended shortly after at a parking location in Changsari. Both vehicles involved in the operation have been confiscated, and legal actions are underway. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover further details related to the case.
