Guwahati: In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming by-elections in Assam, the Congress party has appointed AICC secretary Manoj Chauhan as the state’s new co-incharge. Previously, Chauhan played a pivotal role in Haryana during the recent Assembly elections. A native of Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh, he was identified by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as part of a talent initiative to nurture emerging leaders within the party.Chauhan’s extensive election management experience is expected to bolster Congress’s organizational efforts in Assam. Additionally, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced the nomination of six candidates for the forthcoming Legislative Assembly by-elections, including four from Assam: Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha for Dholai, Sanjib Warle for Sidli, Brajenjit Sinha for Bongaigaon, and Tanzil Hussain for Samaguri.
