Assam Governor has announced November 1 as a local holiday in Kamrup (Metro) for Diwali, allowing state offices and educational institutions to close in observance of the Festival of Lights.
Guwahati: In a festive gesture, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has proclaimed November 1 as a local holiday in the Kamrup (Metro) district in celebration of Diwali. This holiday means that all state government offices and educational institutions in the district will be closed on this significant occasion.The official announcement also stated that financial institutions in Kamrup (Metro) will observe the holiday, as per Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, in line with a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.Additionally, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the state government will start disbursing salaries to its employees on October 28. This initiative is designed to enhance the festive spirit by providing financial relief, enabling employees to manage their Diwali expenses effectively.This thoughtful move has been positively received by state employees, who appreciate the government’s consideration during this important festival. Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated with much enthusiasm across India, symbolizing joy and togetherness.
