Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confronts Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren regarding the entry of Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, highlighting concerns over selective political hospitality amid the upcoming elections.
Guwahati: In a recent political development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has publicly challenged Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to prevent Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir from entering Jharkhand. This challenge arises against the backdrop of ongoing political tensions surrounding the entry of various political figures into the state.Sarma expressed his dismay over the apparent favoritism shown by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in allowing Mir’s entry while denying him similar access. He questioned whether such hospitality is exclusively extended to certain communities, suggesting a bias in the JMM’s treatment of political leaders.Additionally, Sarma criticized the JMM government, labeling it as “fake” and highlighting concerns about the integrity of its leaders. He pointed out discrepancies in their property declarations and implied that the current administration is riddled with infiltrators. “If the JMM regains power, the safety of the people will be at risk,” he warned, urging the voters of Jharkhand to consider their choice carefully in the upcoming elections.Sarma’s remarks came during his visit to Jamtara, where he sought to persuade veteran BJP member Satyanand Jha to withdraw his independent candidacy. Jha had declared his intent to run as an independent after being denied a BJP ticket, raising concerns about potential vote-splitting that could harm the party’s chances. In a bid to mend fences, Sarma revealed that the BJP has offered Jha a significant role in either the state or central government as compensation for his loyalty. “This election is crucial for the BJP’s success and for the future of Jharkhand,” Sarma asserted, emphasizing the need for a unified front to secure a victory in the upcoming assembly elections.
