In a major drug bust, Cachar district police in Assam seized 375 grams of suspected heroin and 20,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 7 crore, apprehending one individual during the operation.
Guwahati: The police in Cachar district, Assam, have made a significant drug seizure, confiscating 375 grams of suspected heroin and 20,000 Yaba tablets, collectively worth around Rs 7 crore. One individual has been arrested, and a vehicle was also seized in connection with the case.The operation took place on November 3 in the Lailapur area, following credible intelligence. Officers discovered 30 soap boxes containing the heroin, along with the Yaba tablets.Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the Cachar police on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing their commitment to public safety and law enforcement. He stated, “Acting on credible intelligence, @cacharpolice conducted a special operation today at Lailapur, leading to the seizing of a vehicle and the apprehension of an individual. The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 375 grams of suspected heroin and 20,000 Yaba tablets, with an estimated value of ₹7 crore. Kudos to @assampolice for their continued dedication!”In a related operation, the Assam Police Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid in the Dakhingaon area under Dispur police jurisdiction, where they seized 118.45 grams of heroin contained in 10 soap boxes. The STF apprehended two individuals, Mafizur Rahman (32) and Nur Hussain (23), and also confiscated a two-wheeler and two mobile phones. Assam police spokesperson Pranab Jyoti Goswami confirmed that necessary procedures are being followed.
