Guwahati :Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led a key meeting on November 20 to assess and accelerate the development of the state’s education sector, with a significant focus on his proposal for the establishment of “leader schools.” This ambitious initiative is designed to elevate educational standards across Assam by integrating modern infrastructure, promoting holistic learning, and leveraging technology-driven teaching methods.The ‘leader schools’ project, in partnership with the World Bank, aims to create a transformative education system that encourages community involvement and ensures inclusive learning opportunities for students throughout the state. The initiative seeks to foster an environment where education goes beyond traditional boundaries, focusing on both academic excellence and personal development.In addition to the leader schools proposal, the Chief Minister highlighted several other student-centric initiatives during the meeting. These included the distribution of scooties, tablets, and bicycles to improve access to education, especially in remote areas. Sarma also emphasized the need to recognize exceptional academic performance through awards such as the Anundoram Borooah Award, which honors the achievements of top students.The meeting also reviewed preparations for the upcoming teacher recruitment examination, aiming to streamline the hiring process and address the staffing shortages in Assam’s educational institutions. These efforts are part of the state government’s broader commitment to strengthen the education system and ensure better opportunities for all students.
