Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for its strong performance in the recent by-polls in Assam and Meghalaya, describing the victories as significant political milestones.Speaking to the media on November 24, Sarma remarked, “We have continued our winning streak,” highlighting the BJP’s consistent success in Assam’s electoral landscape. He emphasized the importance of these victories as critical markers in preparation for the 2026 state assembly elections.Sarma also underscored the timing of the results, noting, “This victory provides a major boost just before the 2026 Assembly elections in Assam, as there will be no further by-elections after this.”The BJP’s achievements were not confined to Assam, with the party also securing a notable victory in Meghalaya, where Conrad Sangma’s party triumphed. Sarma referred to this win as a significant recovery, saying, “After the setback in the Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya, this is a strong comeback for us.” He later shared his praise for the party’s gains in Meghalaya on social media, tweeting, “Not just in Assam, even in Meghalaya, BJP has made significant gains in the recently concluded by-polls.”
