Ahead of Constitution Day celebrations, Kiren Rijiju urges unity in honoring the Indian Constitution and criticizes opposition parties for premature reactions regarding the event’s arrangements.

New Delhi:As India prepares to celebrate Constitution Day, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju called for national unity to honor the Constitution and its framers, stressing that the occasion is above political differences.“This celebration is not just for Parliament; it is for the entire country,” Rijiju said, emphasizing the importance of the day as a tribute to the Constitution’s creators and an opportunity to reconnect its values with the people. He urged that when the President addresses both Houses on November 26, it should be a moment of unity, free from political discord. “We must come together as a nation to celebrate Constitution Day,” he added.The minister also confirmed plans to personally invite the President for the evening’s events.Responding to opposition concerns, Rijiju criticized their early and unfounded reactions, clarifying, “Some opposition parties are reacting without fully understanding the program. The Prime Minister will not be speaking at the event. Only the Lok Sabha Speaker, Vice President, and President will address the gathering.”He further assured that special seating arrangements have been made for opposition leaders from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Rijiju condemned the opposition’s criticisms, calling them inappropriate for such a significant occasion.The Constitution Day celebrations are expected to see leaders from across the political spectrum come together to reflect on the nation’s founding principles.
