Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announces that the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge will be completed by July 2025, providing toll-free access for private vehicles to enhance connectivity across the Brahmaputra.
Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the much-awaited Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge is progressing according to schedule and is expected to be completed by July 2025. Upon its completion, the bridge will be toll-free for private vehicles, although trucks and commercial buses will be required to pay a toll.
Sarma shared the update following a site inspection on the South Bank of the Brahmaputra. “The construction is moving ahead smoothly, and we anticipate inaugurating the bridge after July 2025,” he said.
This new bridge will significantly improve connectivity between Guwahati and North Guwahati, helping reduce traffic congestion while contributing to regional development. By making the bridge free for private vehicles, the government aims to make it more accessible and affordable for daily commuters.
The project is part of Assam’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure, which is expected to drive economic growth and facilitate easier travel for residents across the state.
