Three drug peddlers were arrested in Guwahati after Assam Police seized heroin worth Rs 1.4 crore in Balughat, Basistha area. The Special Task Force conducted a successful raid leading to the recovery of 138 gm of heroin and several other items.
Guwahati:In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) seized heroin worth approximately Rs 1.4 crore on the evening of December 7, in the Balughat area of Guwahati, falling under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. The authorities arrested three individuals in connection with the drug bust.
Acting on reliable intelligence, STF personnel, led by Inspector Kapil Pathak, conducted operations in Balughat and Beltola Bazar, which are part of the Basistha and Dispur Police Stations. During the raids, they recovered 27 vials containing 36.05 gm of heroin, along with a scooter, cash, and a mobile phone.
Following the arrest of one peddler, police proceeded to a rented property in Beltola Bazar, Garokuchi Path, where they apprehended two more suspects. From these individuals, officers seized 102 vials containing 138 gm of heroin and two mobile phones. The total estimated value of the confiscated drugs, based on Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards, is approximately Rs 1.4 crore.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to track the network behind this illegal operation.
