Guwahati:In a positive development for residents and businesses in Manipur, the state government has lifted the temporary suspension of internet services that had been imposed in various districts. This decision follows a comprehensive review of the law and order situation, ensuring that the restoration of internet access will not compromise public safety.An official notification confirmed that internet services have been restored in Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Jiribam, and Pherzawl districts. The suspension was initially enforced under Rule 2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017, and the decision to lift it was approved by the Governor of Manipur, effective immediately.The restoration is expected to enhance communication, ease of business operations, and access to essential online services, helping the state’s residents return to their normal routines. However, the government has cautioned citizens to use the internet responsibly, warning that any activities that threaten public order may result in the re-imposition of temporary suspensions.With the lifting of the internet ban, authorities hope to strike a balance between maintaining peace and ensuring that the state’s digital infrastructure remains functional for everyday needs.
