Massive Explosives Cache Seized in South Salmara-Mankachar District; One Arrested

In a significant operation, Assam Police recover 760 explosive sticks, detonators, and other materials from a raid in South Salmara-Mankachar. One person arrested, further investigations underway.

Guwahati:In a high-stakes operation on Sunday night, Assam Police uncovered a massive haul of explosives in the South Salmara-Mankachar district. The raid, carried out in the Amtenga area of Barbilla, was initiated based on a tip-off received earlier that evening. The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Das, with support from Kalapani Police Station personnel.During the raid, police seized a total of 760 explosive sticks, 400 CDET ALFA detonators, and various other materials used in explosive operations. The explosives, stored in 38 white polythene bags with 20 sticks each, were accompanied by 125 CDET ELECTRA immediate electric detonators, which were bundled in five separate packages containing 25 each. Additionally, police found 55 bundles of blue explosive wires and several other bundles of red, blue, and black electric wires.Further, six cement packets and several tools, including scissors and cutters used in the preparation of explosives, were also recovered.The main suspect, Ijazul Miah, 40, from Amtenga village, was arrested at the scene. According to police, Miah was allegedly supplied the explosives by an individual named Sangma on Saturday for a payment of Rs. 70,000.Ijazul Miah is currently being questioned by authorities at the Kalapani Police Station. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the origins of the explosives and their intended use, as well as to identify any other individuals involved in this illegal activity.
