Guwahati: A devastating accident occurred near Lahowal in Dibrugarh on the Dibrugarh-Duliajan-Joypur-Naharkatia road when a vehicle plunged into a river, leaving one person dead and four others critically injured. The incident took place late at night in thick fog, causing the vehicle to lose control and fall off a bridge.The deceased has been identified as Ishan Gogoi, while the injured individuals—Akhiraj Gogoi (28), Tridip Gogoi (30), Latu Gogoi (26), and Biplab Gogoi (28)—were all rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The victims, all residents of Tamulikhat in Tengakhat, were on their way home after attending a wedding. They had just dropped off the bride at Bakul Majgaon in Dibrugarh when the tragic accident occurred.The body of Ishan Gogoi was recovered from the submerged vehicle by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, though he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The condition of the other four victims remains critical as they continue to receive medical care.Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, which is believed to have been exacerbated by poor visibility due to the fog. The community remains in shock as they await further updates on the condition of the survivors.
