Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has raised alarm over the increasing number of infiltration attempts by Bangladeshi nationals into India, attributing the surge to the severe economic crisis currently plaguing Bangladesh.Sarma revealed that, on average, 10 to 20 individuals from Bangladesh attempt to cross into India daily, driven by the economic challenges faced by their home country. “The worsening financial situation in Bangladesh is pushing many to seek better opportunities across the border. We are taking stringent actions to prevent such infiltrations,” Sarma stated.Bangladesh is grappling with a dire economic downturn, including a foreign exchange crisis and rising inflation. These conditions are reportedly fueling the migration of individuals seeking refuge and economic opportunities in neighboring India.The Assam government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening border security and ensuring the region’s sovereignty. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of heightened vigilance to protect the state from external pressures.
