The seismic event occurred around 12:34 PM, with its epicenter situated at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface.The tremors were also felt in parts of Assam and West Bengal, briefly alarming residents in these regions.The NCS shared details of the earthquake through a social media post:”Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.1, Date: 21/01/2025, Time: 12:34:02 IST, Latitude: 25.34 N, Longitude: 91.17 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: South West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.”Although no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage have surfaced, authorities have urged residents to remain alert for potential aftershocks.
