Guwahati:On January 23, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Japan’s State Minister for Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, Furukawa Yasushi, to discuss opportunities for enhancing tourism ties between the two nations. During the meeting, CM Sarma highlighted the immense yet untapped tourism potential in Assam, including renowned destinations such as Charaideo Moidams, Kaziranga National Park, lush tea gardens, and scenic golf courses.The Assam CM presented the diverse travel itineraries the state offers, emphasizing how these attractions could appeal to Japanese tourists. The discussions also focused on strengthening cultural and economic ties through increased tourism, which could contribute to mutual prosperity.In a tweet following the meeting, Sarma expressed his honor in meeting Minister Yasushi and shared, “From Charaideo Moidams to Kaziranga and Golf courses, I highlighted Assam’s untapped tourism potential and the diverse itineraries we can offer to Japanese visitors.”In addition to tourism talks, CM Sarma met Japan’s State Minister of Justice, Komura Masahiro, where he outlined plans for an industrial park aimed at attracting Japanese investments. This broader engagement underscored the ongoing efforts to enhance India-Japan bilateral relations, with a focus on shared values and cultural connections.
