Guwahati: Outgoing Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, GP Singh, bid a heartfelt farewell during a ceremonial parade at the 4th Assam Police Battalion, expressing his gratitude to the people of the state. Reflecting on his career, Singh humbly stated, “I will be honored if the people of Assam consider me a worthy son of the state,” underscoring his deep emotional connection to the region.Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a post on social media, lauded Singh’s contributions, highlighting the significant improvements in peace and security under his leadership. Sarma noted that crime rates in the state had reached historic lows, while conviction rates and law enforcement efficacy saw marked improvement. The Chief Minister also acknowledged Singh’s pivotal role during challenging times such as the CAA agitation and personally visited the retiring DGP’s residence to extend his best wishes for his new role as Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).In his farewell address, GP Singh expressed his sincere appreciation for the officers, jawans, and staff of Assam Police, attributing their dedication, discipline, and teamwork to the remarkable achievements of the force. He emphasized that their collective efforts had helped elevate Assam Police’s national reputation.As he concludes his service, Singh urged the force to continue maintaining its values of honor, integrity, and professionalism, expressing full confidence in their ability to sustain the high standards of policing in the state.
