Guwahati: The Assam police arrested two linkmen in association with banned insurgent outfit Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) on extortion charges in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.
The accused KLO linkmen allegedly tried to extort money from Sunil Mandal, a businessman, sources added.
Based on Sunil’s complaint, police acted swiftly and arrested the KLO cadres from Narabari.
Police acted quickly in response to Sunil’s complaint and detained the KLO cadres.
The arrested cadres identified as Bishnu Rai and Tapas Rai were apprehended from the Serfanguri area of the district.
However, a case under relevant sections has also been registered against them.
An investigation to unearth further linkages is on.
