Assam: Assistant BDO Held For Accepting Bribe In Darrang
Guwahati: An assistant (Block Development Officer) BDO-cum-Secretary of Dhula Gaon Panchayat has been arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on charges of bribery in Darrang district on Wednesday.
The vigilance sleuths caught Thakuria red-handed while he was accepting a demanded bribe for passing a running bill in connection with contractual work.
The arrested assistant BDO has been identified as Sujit Thakuria.
Taking to Twitter, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh wrote, “Shri Sujit Thakuria, Asstt. BDO-cum-Secretary, Dhula Gaon Panchayat, District Darrang has been trapped and arrested red-handed today by @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting demanded money for passing a running bill in connection with a contractual work.”
Last week, the vigilance team arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Gopal Doley, in charge of the Darrangamela outpost of Tamulpur district on charges of taking bribes from the complainant.
Meanwhile, Assam Police has urged citizens of the state to report any kind of monetary demands made by government employees.
