Assam: 11 Bangladeshi Nationals Sent To Jail
Guwahati: At least 11 Bangladeshi nationals out of 17, who were arrested from Behali in Assam’s Biswanath district, have been sent to jail, the official said on Sunday.
The Jingia Police detained the Bangladeshis at Baghmari on the Brahmaputra’s banks.
According to sources, they crossed the border into India at Cooch Behar, and also they had traveler’s visas.
Six other people, including a religious guru, were sent for two days in police custody, officially added.
The people providing shelter to the group, Shamsul Ali and Zehirul Haque have also been taken into custody by the police.
They are currently being questioned by the special branch of the Assam Police, according to officials.
