Assam: Huge quantities of drugs seized in Karimganj, 2 held

Guwahati: In continuation with the war against drugs, the Karimganj Police seized 1 kg of Heroin packed in 65 soap cases and 20,000 YABA tablets in Assam’s Karimganj district on Sunday.

The anti-narcotics team seized the heroin in Patharkandi in the district.  

Police arrested two persons in this connection, while the main accused managed to escape in two operations, said sources.

Taking to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “As a combined result of two back-two-back operations launched by @karimganjpolice in Patharkandi, 1 kg Heroin, packed in 65 soap cases, along with 20,000 YABA tablets have been seized on Sunday. Two accused have been apprehended”.

On the same day, Karimganj police seized 690 grams of heroin packed in 49 soap cases worth at least 5 crores in the same area and arrested one person.

“In an anti-narcotics ops led by Addl SP HQ, 690 grams of heroin packed in 49 soap cases worth at least 5 crores were recovered in Patharkandi PS area today evening. 1 arrested”, Karimganj police tweeted.
