In a tragic incident, two sisters died after drowning in a pond in Assam’s Darrang district on Sunday.
Both the girls were minors.
According to reports, the incident took place when the duo went fishing in the pond at the Simamuria Bhakatpara area.
The deceased girls have been identified as Martina Marak and Silsina Marak.
The bodies of the two sisters were recovered from the pond later.

Police rushed to the incident spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations.
It may be mentioned that earlier this month, a three-year-old toddler drowned in a pond in Alopati village of Barpeta district.
According to sources, the toddler drowned after she accidentally fell into the pond while she was playing in the vicinity.
