Assam: Army jawan shoots self to death with rifle in Tezpur

Guwahati: An army jawan allegedly shot himself with his service rifle in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Tezpur of the district.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Amrit Pal Singh, a resident of Punjab, who was a soldier of the 4th Corps of the Indian Army

Meanwhile, the exact reason behind the jawan taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Later, after receiving information, the police team rushed to the spot and sent the body to the hospital for post-mortem.

The incident has been reported to the police and an investigation has been launched
