One person has been arrested with a huge quantity of illicit drugs in Bongaigaon district of Assam today.
As per sources, police recovered 14 brown sugar-laden containers from a scooter in a police operation at Abhayapuri’s Lengtisinga.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Zakir Ali.
He was arrested along with a brown sugar-laden container weighing 16.73 grams.
Another accused, Himanshu Das from Abhayapuri, was able to flee the scene in the meantime.
A Guwahati-based news portal’s press card and boom microphone have been found by police, and 14 canisters of suspected brown sugar have also been seized, said police.
These press card and boom belongs to Himanshu Das.
Notably, Himanshu Das had earlier also been accused of smuggling drugs.
