Assam: Over 50,000 people, 9 districts affected due to fresh flood
Guwahati: The overall flood situation in Assam showed some improvement over the last 24 hours while 50, 836 people are still affected, officials said on Thursday.
The fresh spate of floods has impacted nine districts in Assam, officials added.
Lakhimpur district is the worst hit with over 37,000 reeling under the impact of the natural calamity.
In the Brahmaputra River in Tezpur and Neamatighat in Jorhat, the water level is above the danger mark, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
As many as 199 villages under 20 revenue circles are currently affected by the flood, officials stated.
However, erosion has been reported in Biswanath, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Majuli, Goalpara, and Tinsukia districts.
Two embankments, one each in Biswanath and Dibrugarh have been damaged, officials added.
Meanwhile, nearly 50, 000 domestic animals have also been affected by floods in Dhemaji, Darrang, Dibrugarh, and Lakhimpur districts.
