Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a veterinarian was killed in Guwahati on Saturday night.
The incident took place near Pratiksha Hospital at a restaurant. The victim has been identified as Khanjit Medhi.
The offender killed Medhi using car keys as a weapon in the neck, said sources.
However, police has arrested one accused, identified as Subhash Basumatary, in connection to the murder case.
As per sources, it is alleged that Basumatary’s mother Usha Basumatary worked at the restaurant and was supposed to receive Rs 4,000 from the owner. Following this reason, Basumatary got into an argument with the owner demanding money.
As per the preliminary investigation, the police suspected that the argument turned into a brawl. When Medhi stepped in to stop the fight, however, he fall prey to the incident and was killed.
Basumatary was killed when Medhi attempted to intervene in the argument and stop the argument. Police also revealed that Subhash was a drug addict.
