Assam Police detain 7 German nationals for violating tourist visa norms
Guwahati: Assam police detained seven German nations, who had allegedly delivered sermons at a religious program, for violating tourist visa norms.
On Friday, the German nationals were detained by police and they were restrained in Kaziranga National Park.
However, the police and district administration has taken the necessary steps to deport them.
On October 26, a group of German nationals arrived at Kaziranga National Park. After that, they left for Karbi Anglong district and engaged in missionary work that was prohibited under a tourist Visa, officials claimed.
The police have found that they were involved in religious gatherings, preaching activities, and other religious activities, officials stated.
This goes against the terms of the tourist visa. Each tourist person fined 500 US dollars for violating the rules on tourist visas in accordance with the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines, officials added.
“We have contacted the competent authority to deport them, from here to Delhi and then their respective country”, officially stated.
Earlier, on October 26, three Swedish preachers were detained in the Dibrugarh district and deported for violating visa norms.
