A petrol truck caught fire and burst in Mizoram capital Aizawl, leaving four people dead and up to 18 others with burn injuries.
The incident took place at around 6 pm on Saturday in Tuirial village, which is located about 18 kilometers to the east of the state.
The tanker was said to be heading toward Champhai.
Following the incident, all of the injured people were taken to a hospital in Tuirial where they are currently receiving medical care.
Two 2-wheelers and a four-wheel taxi were also damaged in the incident.
However, the exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
An investigation into the matter is underway.
