Assam: Headteacher suspended after he comes to school carrying machete; Video viral
Guwahati: The head teacher of a lower primary school was suspended after he came to the school with a machete in Assam’s Cachar district.
The suspended teacher was identified as Dhritimedha Das (38), a resident of the Tarapur area in Silchar.
The police and the education department took action against the head teacher after the incident’s video went viral on social media.
As per sources, on Saturday, the police got a call from the school about the incident and rushed to take control of the situation.
Meanwhile, Das made an effort to conceal the weapon and acted like everything was normal. However, after entering the school, police noticed fear amongst the students and other teachers, said the official.
The official claimed that the head teacher was angry and frustrated because of irregularities by other teachers and was trying to control the teachers by showing the machete.
No official complaint was lodged by the teachers of the school or the education department. However, Das has been temporarily suspended, sources said.
