HNLC leaders to visit Meghalaya again for peace talks

For the second time, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) leaders will go to Meghalaya to hold peace talks.

According to local media reports, HNLC leaders will go to Shillong, Meghalaya, this week to hold peace talks with the government.

According to reports, the HNLC leaders will present the government with a “message” outlining the issues the group would like the peace talks to be based on. Notably, the HNLC was planning to announce its list of requests, concerns, and agendas.

Earlier on August 5, at least five senior leaders of the proscribed HNLC visited Meghalaya for peace talks with the government.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has stated that the “complicated process” of peace talks with the banned HNLC is on track. Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma had stated that the state government would work to “speed up” the HNLC talks.
