Mevar Kumar Jamatia, MLA of the ruling BJP-led coalition partner Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IFPT) has resigned from the state assembly.
He submitted his resignation to the Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty.
Meanwhile, speculations are doing rounds that Jamatia is likely to join TIPRA Motha headed by Pradyot Kishore Debbarman.
Jamatia speaking to the media said that he has resigned because the people of the state have many aspirations for the government but he and his government’s performance is not up to the mark.
Jamatia is the third MLA of the IPFT to resign ahead of next year’s assembly elections in the Northeastern state.
Before him, IPFT MLAs Brishaketu Debbarma and Dhananjoy Tripura had quit the Assembly and the party before joining the TIPRA.
