New Delhi:In the ongoing winter session of Parliament, opposition parties, including the Congress and the Tmc, have demanded a discussion on the political misuse of investigative agencies like the CBI and the ED.In the last five years, the CBI has registered FIRs against 56 MLAs and MPs during the Modi regime. Of these, the highest number of cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh. But the cbi’s success in convicting the accused has steadily declined.
In the ongoing winter session of Parliament, the opposition parties, including the Congress, the Trinamool, are political in the investigative agencies like the CBI, ED. It demanded a discussion on abuse. They alleged that the Modi government was using the CBI-ED for political gains against opposition parties.Replying to a question by TMC MP Mala Roy in the Lok Sabha today, the Ministry of Personnel said the list of political parties against which MPs and MLAs have been booked by the CBI includes the Congress, Trinamool, NCP, Aam Aadmi Party, Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress, DMK, ADMK, SP, RJD and the BJP.However, data provided by Personnel Minister Jitendra Singh shows that most of the CBI cases have taken place in opposition-
ruled states. Most in Andhra Pradesh. 10 cases. Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are in second place. 6 cases each. According to sources, all the cases in Uttar Pradesh are against SP-BSP leaders. West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh are in third place. There have been five cases each in these two states.Out of the 56 cases, charge sheets have been filed in 22 cases. But the success rate of the CBI in convicting the accused is gradually declining. In 2019, the rate was 69.8%. In 2021, it dropped to 67.6%.
