Guwahati:Dr. Surjya Hazarika is elected as the new President of Asom Sahitya Sabha. Dr. Surjya Hazarika is a Padma Shri Awardee, receiving the honour for Literature and Education in 2008 from then-Indian President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
Girij Handique, on the other hand, was elected as the Vice President of the Sahitya Sabha, and Upendrajit Sarma was elected as the General Secretary.
Earlier today, Election Officer Harendra Nath Bora stated that there were 734 ballots in Asom Sahitya Sabha voting boxes.
The famous litterateur, journalist, songwriter, poet, filmmaker, publisher, and educationist Surya Hazarika (Suryakanta Hazarika) has been elected as the president of the state’s literary globe. SurJya Hazarika succeeded to win the presidency by leaving everyone behind.
