New Delhi:Along with West Bengal, various states of the Deccan have also been protesting against the centre’s proposal for national education policy. The All India Save Education Committee has chosen February 21 as ‘International Mother Language Day’ to further strengthen the protests in the all-India arena. They say that protest day will be celebrated across the country on that date. On that day, protests will be held in all the districts of the country. Like the south, the convention will also be held in the eastern, northern and western regions of India.
At a meeting of the All India Save Education Committee on Sunday, it was decided to intensify the protests against the National Education Policy. The committee has been continuously agitating against the National Education Policy from the very beginning. The decision has been taken to launch a nationwide movement against the Centre’s efforts to make Hindi the sole official language and medium of instruction and dilute the importance of English, said Tarun Kanti Naskar, a professor at Jadavpur University and newly elected secretary of the organisation. He said that as the first step of the movement, a joint convention and protest program of south Indian states will be observed in Chennai on February 17. After that, the protest day will be celebrated across the country on The International Mother Language Day.
