New Delhi:The BJP came to power in Tripura in the 2018 assembly elections, ending two-and-a-half decades of Left rule. In Meghalaya, the NPP defeated the Congress and in Nagaland, the NDPP seized power by defeating the NPF.The Election Commission has announced the dates for assembly elections in three northeastern states. Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya are on the list this time. There are 60 assembly seats each in all three states.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said tripura will go to polls on February 16. Besides, elections in Nagaland and Meghalaya will be held on the 27th of that month. The counting of votes in the three states will be held on March 2 on the same day.
