Gujarat HC imposes Rs 25,000 fine on Kejriwal for asking for Modi’s BA, MA pass papers

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Gujarat High Court in connection with a case related to prime minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualification. On Friday, the Gujarat High Court set aside the order of the Chief Information Commission (CIC). Kejriwal had applied to the CIC seeking to see Modi’s BA and MA pass certificates. In response, the CIC directed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Delhi University and Gujarat University to show the certificates. The Gujarat University had moved the court against him.


A single bench of Justice Biren Vaishnaw of the Gujarat High Court on Friday set aside the CIC order. It also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Kejriwal for seeking details of the prime minister’s degree certificate. The Chief Minister of Delhi will have to deposit the amount within four weeks.
