New Delhi: As many as 135 people stranded in Sudan under Operation Cauvery have been flown from Port Sudan to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia by an Air Force plane. Besides, 754 people returned home today.
Sudan’s army and paramilitaries have extended the ceasefire for another three days. However, despite the announcement, there were reports of shelling in parts of darfur in the west and the capital Khartoum. Earlier, the ceasefire announced by the two sides ended today. This is the first time that a ceasefire has been announced by the paramilitary forces. As a result, it is believed that the ceasefire agreement will be fruitful from tomorrow.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) today said 135 people stranded in Sudan under Operation Cauvery were flown from Port Sudan to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia by an IAF aircraft. Besides, 754 people returned home today. They were already expelled from Sudan. It was. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted that 392 of them arrived in New Delhi in C-17 choppers of the IAF. The remaining 362 have reached Bengaluru. In all, 1,360 people stranded in Sudan have returned home.
Earlier, Nazmul Haque, a resident of Beldanga in Murshidabad, told Anandabazar that he had left for Port Sudan. “I have reached the Port of Sudan. After making my passport, I will leave for Jeddah today. It will take 12 to 14 hours to reach Jeddah from here. ”
The shooting took place at Wadi Seidna airport, not far from Khartoum, amid a Turkish rescue operation. Sudan’s military has blamed opposition paramilitaries. Turkey’s foreign minister also confirmed the attack. However, no casualty was reported in the attack.
