New Delhi: A patient has been accused of stabbing a young doctor to death. The doctor was trying to heal the wound on the young man’s leg. Suddenly, the young man pointed a knife at him. The doctor was seriously injured by the knife. He later died.
The incident took place in Kottarakra town in Kerala’s Kollam district. The deceased has been identified as Vandana Das. He was working at a taluka hospital in Kottarkar. On Wednesday, police brought a young man there for treatment. The youth allegedly got into an argument and scuffle with other members of his family. That’s when he got hurt. Police took him to the hospital. But the accused committed a more heinous act at the hospital.

According to police, the patient suddenly got angry when the doctor was applying medicines to the wound on the youth’s leg. He turns to everyone with what he finds in front of him. The youth attacked with scissors and a knife used in surgery. The doctor was stabbed. A policeman was also injured.
After the incident, the doctor was rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. But he could not be saved.
Others are angry at the way the doctor had to die while visiting their own patient in front of the eyes of the police. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for a 24-hour bandh to protest the death of the doctor.
