Guwahati:The Assam BJP hold a press conference today to discuss the issue of constituency delimitation.At the press conference Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita said that some have tried to mislead the people without knowing the truth behind delimitation. Margherita says ,” Upper Assam had lost two seats during the Congress days. In the current draft, there is an increase in seats. ’’Commenting on the leader of the Ahom community, the MPs said that the strength of the 5 seats with Ahom representation will increase. He also said that the strength of the Ahoms in the Moran and Mahmora constituencies will increase. He also told that few people want to do politics.
In Sivasagar constituency, there are Ahom people in nine panchayats . After that how do you say that the number has come down? Many people have given the wrong message by doing petty politics.The MP also said that the delimitation of the constituency will help in the growth of the constituency so that the Ahom people can represent more. The Ahom-dominated areas have not been cut off, only the boundaries have been changed. He also pointed out that it is false to say that the Ahom community will lose the Sivasagar constituency.
