Schools, colleges closed, armed forces guard Haryana after violence in religious processions

New Delhi: The Haryana government has decided to close educational institutions on Tuesday in view of the unrest over religious processions. All schools, colleges and coaching centres in Gurugram and Faridabad will remain closed on Tuesday, August 1. The authorities have been strictly instructed to comply with the order.

Internet services have also been suspended in parts of Haryana since Monday night. The administration has taken this decision to prevent rumours. Police and armed forces have been patrolling large areas since nightfall. Though the situation is under control, areas like Gurugram and Faridabad are in a tizzy.

Section 144 has been in force since Monday night in Gurugram and main site Nuh (Mewat) district. Three people, including two home guards, were killed in clashes at a religious procession in Nuh. The home guards were allegedly shot dead. Later, there was a sense of unrest.
