Guwahati: There is an acute shortage of electricity in the state now. Many places have electricity only for a few hours a day. So people are now having to shed their lives in the state where the scorching heat is raging. Assam’s own power generation has come down recently but the electricity tariff has come down.
At a time when the Modi government has claimed that the economic development of the country is increasing, this increase in power prices has left the people in a dilemma. The Assam government and the power minister have failed to meet the electricity demand. The BJP’s 24-hour promise of electricity in Assam ahead of the assembly elections has now turned out to be infructuous.
