Guwahati: Manipur is on the boil again after being quiet for a while. A group of protesting mobs tried to attack police stations and courts demanding unconditional release of the five arrested youths on Thursday. More than 10 people were injured when security forces in Manipur fired tear gas at protesters. As a precautionary measure, the state government cancelled curfew relaxations in two districts, including Imphal, from 5 pm onwards.
Six local clubs and Meera Paibis demanded the release of five village volunteers. Responding to the call, hundreds of protesters held placards and shouted slogans and tried to enter Imphal East and Qwakithel police stations in Imphal West district as well as Kwakithel police stations in Imphal West district.
