New Delhi: The Gujarat High Court has directed the Oreva Group, the company responsible for managing and maintaining the Morbi bridge, to provide life pension to eligible persons belonging to the families of those killed in the bridge accident.
A division bench of Chief Justice Sunil Agarwal and Justice Anirudh Mayi made the observation while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) on October 30, 2022, in connection with the death of 135 people due to the collapse of a British-era bridge. According to the government, ten women were widowed and seven children were orphaned in the bridge accident.
