New Delhi: Fingerprint or retina scan no longer mandatory for making Aadhaar card! The Centre has taken a new decision keeping in mind those with special needs. The Ministry of Information Technology has decided that even if fingerprints are not possible for a person, then the Aadhaar card cannot be stopped. In that case, iris scan technology should be used.
Recently, Josimal P Jose, a woman from Kerala, was unable to get an Aadhaar card as she did not have fingers. Later, however, his name cropped up after the intervention of Union Minister of State for Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar. After this, the central government issued a new statement on Aadhaar. Chandrasekhar said that Aadhaar card cannot be stopped even if one does not have fingers or retina scan is not possible.
