New Delhi: It has been 22 years since the terrorist attack on Parliament. The “cowardly” attack took place on this day in 2001. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders paid tribute to the martyrs in Parliament. A minute’s silence was also observed. Modi and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also met the families of the slain soldiers.
On December 13, 2001, five LeT and Jaish terrorists had entered the Parliament complex. The gunfight began. The terrorists were eliminated, but eight soldiers were also killed. A gardener in parliament was also killed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and BJP national president JP Nadda were among those who paid tributes to the martyrs.
