New Delhi:Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were on Friday adjourned until Monday, 11 am, after Opposition MPs protested over their suspension and demanded a discussion over the security breach incident, which happened on Friday. The uproar earlier too forced several adjournments, demanding a statement from the government on the security breach. Meanwhile, Lalit Mohan Jha, the key accused in the Parliament security breach incident, was arrested and the police said they have filed terrorism charges against the four accused under the stringent UAPA. Eight Delhi Police personnel were also suspended over the incident. Police also said a total of six people were involved in the sensational incident that coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 terror attack on Parliament.
Parliament is still heated on Friday in protest against the gas attack. Opposition MPs staged a protest outside and inside the House. As a result, the session was adjourned several times. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the entire day as it failed to function despite several attempts.
Soon after the session began, Opposition MPs demanded statements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on the proceedings. The suspended MPs staged a separate protest at the foot of the Gandhi statue. Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi spoke to them separately. They also protested in front of the main entrance of Parliament. The Opposition has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement in the winter session on Wednesday’s attack. However, the government refused to accept the demand.
Home Minister Amit Shah said in an interview a day earlier that the opposition did unnecessary politics over the attack on Parliament. Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, “We are just asking questions. Asking questions is not politics. The government has to make a statement on this. ”
