Puppet dance performance at Down Town School in Guwahati
Guwahati : India International Puppet Festival 2024 has begun with an aim to revive the puppet dance tradition of the North East. The International Art and Cultural Foundation, Bangalore, an exceptional organisation has been organising festivals across India with a focus on promoting and promoting the extinct folk art. India International puppet Festival 2024, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will be held in different parts of Assam with a four-day programme.
The ceremony will begin from today and will be held on January 12 in four schools in Assam. In view of this, The Director General of IACF Shri vatsya Shandilya was present at the puppet dance program held at Down Town School in the guwahati city today. The aim is to revive the toy traditions of the North East. Received a National Tagore Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India at today’s event through the charming art of puppet art Binita Devi’s training involves toy dance workshops as well as puppet dance. Vinita Devi imparts knowledge about toy dancing to the school students. A play as well as dance is also performed in this puppet ceremony through puppet dance in today’s program, making interesting stories for the new generation, especially school children. Vinita Devi shows puppetry techniques to the students. At today’s event Writer Ajay Mulik performed a play titled Lobong-Latika as well as the Bagrumba dance directed by Vinita Devi through the puppet. Maya Fernandez principal of Down Town School, mentioned the need for Puppet dancing in front of the students and lauded the puppet art displayed.
