Guwahati: The third phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held in several states of the country, including Assam, on May 7. Four Lok Sabha seats in Assam namely Guwahati, Barpeta, Kokrajhar and Dhubri will go to polls in the third phase tomorrow. But in the third phase of polling, the weather is sure to derail. A total of 94 constituencies in the country, including four constituencies in Assam, will go to polls tomorrow. There will be a vote war in 10 states and two union territories of the country. Polling will be held on four seats in Assam as well as five seats in Bihar, seven in Chhattisgarh, 14 in Karnataka, nine seats in Madhya Pradesh, 11 seats in Maharashtra, 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, four in West Bengal, 25 in Gujarat, two seats in Goa and two in Jammu and Kashmir and two in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Diu.
The fate of a total of 1351 candidates will be decided in the third phase of elections. Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Center has issued a weather forecast for the next seven days in several states of the country. On May 6, light to moderate rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad; Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will receive heavy rainfall till May 8. The Meteorological Centre had yesterday issued a yellow alert in South Salmara, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Nalbari districts. Similarly, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Kamrup, Kamrup (City), Darrang, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Morigaon, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi districts. In such a situation, the weather is sure to disrupt the voting for the third phase of elections to be held in four constituencies of Assam tomorrow.
